Professional Training
These sessions are designed for school administrators, teachers, counsellors, school support staff and community partners who support school safety.
Digital Threat Assessment® (DTA)
This training teaches participants to establish a Digital Behavioural Baseline through a School Safety / Threat Assessment (SS/TA) lens.
The course is intended for:
- New and returning Safe School Coordinators;
- Principals, Vice Principals, Educators, and other designated support staff;
- Multi-disciplinary community stakeholders, including Law Enforcement, SLO’s etc.
Basic Threat and Risk Assessment
In this session, trainers provide techniques for identifying and assessing individuals who engage in behaviours consistent with a threat. Trainers also provide School Safety / Threat Assessment (SS/TA) teams with the tools to complete a thorough data collection and assessment.
The course is intended for:
- New and returning Safe School Coordinators;
- Principals, Vice Principals, Educators, and other designated support staff;
- Multi-disciplinary community stakeholders, including Law Enforcement, SLO’s etc.
Advanced Threat and Risk Assessment
This session builds on the foundational skills from Basic Threat & Risk Assessment, focusing on factors that impact the threat assessment at each stage, advanced DTA techniques, strategic interviews, and practical application through interactive case scenarios and tabletops.
The course is intended for:
- New and returning Safe School Coordinators;
- Principals, Vice Principals, Educators, and other designated support staff;
- Multi-disciplinary community stakeholders, including Law Enforcement, SLO’s etc.
Trauma-Informed Safe and Caring School Communities
In this session, trainers provide trauma-informed practices to support mental health and learning in schools.
The course is intended for:
- New and returning Safe School Coordinators;
- Principals, Vice Principals, and other designated support staff;
- Educators, Counsellors, and School Administrators according to school and district needs;
- Multi-disciplinary community stakeholders, including Law Enforcement, SLO’s, child protection social workers, child and youth mental health workers, ICY teams.
Foundations of School Safety
In this module, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the building blocks of creating safe, caring and orderly schools, Threat and Risk Assessment, as well as how the Province’s ERASE strategy supports school safety.
The course is intended for:
- New and returning Safe School Coordinators;
- Principals, Vice Principals, Teachers-in-Charge, Educators and other designated support staff;
- Community stakeholders who support school safety.
Community of Practice
In this session, trainers discuss best practices and emerging trends in the world of school safety.
