Advanced Threat and Risk Assessment
In this session, attendees will build on their foundational skills of Basic Threat & Risk Assessment. Trainers will provide School Safety / Threat Assessment (SS/TA) teams with the knowledge & tools to complete a thorough data collection and assessment process through interactive case scenarios.
Advanced Threat and Risk Assessment
The course is intended for:
- New and returning Safe School Coordinators;
- Principals, Vice Principals, Teachers-in-Charge, Educators, and other designated support staff;
- Multi-disciplinary Community stakeholders.
*Note: A pre-requisite for participation in this course is successful completion of Basic Threat & Risk Assessment training.

Overview:
This course builds on the foundational skills from Basic Threat & Risk Assessment, focusing on factors that impact the threat assessment at each stage, advanced DTA techniques, strategic interviews, and practical application through interactive case scenarios and tabletops.

- Common themes and considerations during steps 1, 2, and 3 of the Basic Threat & Risk Assessment
- General understanding of issues to be considered to make an appropriate referral for external supports
- Practice and refine skills in conducting strategic interviews

- Legal and primary considerations for BDTA
- Advanced DTA techniques to assess and manage risk

- Best practices when creating intervention/management and safety plans
